Low Inventory Alert by introducing the Safety Stock feature

  • Updated

You can now configure Safety Stock thresholds for your SKUs to receive low inventory alerts on your SmartHub Dashboard. This feature helps you proactively identify SKUs nearing stock-out and take timely replenishment action, reducing missed orders and improving fulfillment performance.

Monitoring inventory levels is essential to avoid stockouts and ensure uninterrupted order fulfillment. This article explains how you can use the Safety Stock feature in Amazon SmartHub to upload and manage safety stock thresholds for your products in bulk. By maintaining safety stock levels, you can receive low inventory alerts in advance, helping you replenish inventory proactively and prevent lost sales.

Prerequisites

Before setting up Safety Stock alerts, ensure:

  • You have active SKUs in your SmartHub catalog
  • You have access to the Inventory module
  • You have identified the minimum stock levels for your high-velocity SKUs

What is Safety Stock?

Safety Stock is the minimum inventory threshold you set for each SKU. When your available inventory falls below this threshold, SmartHub triggers a low inventory alert on your Dashboard. This helps you plan replenishment before stock-outs occur.

  • The default Safety Stock value is 10 units for all SKUs
  • You can override this default at the individual SKU level using the bulk upload template

How low inventory alerts work

When your inventory drops below the configured Safety Stock level:

  1. An alert appears on your Dashboard page under the Low Inventory Status section
  2. The alert message identifies that some SKUs are reaching Safety Stock levels
  3. You can download a report listing all impacted SKUs
  4. You can then take action to replenish inventory via the Inventory module

Tip: Regularly review your low inventory alerts to ensure timely procurement, especially for high-velocity SKUs.
