You can now view both Sellable Quantity and Reserved Quantity on the Update Inventory page for OMS nodes. This enhanced visibility helps you understand your complete inventory allocation before making updates, eliminating confusion about inventory calculations.
Prerequisites
Before updating inventory, ensure you are working with an OMS node in SmartHub.
What is reserved quantity?
Reserved Quantity represents inventory that has been allocated to pending orders but not yet shipped. This inventory is temporarily set aside and cannot be sold to other customers until the order is fulfilled or cancelled.
Sellable Quantity is the inventory available for new orders, calculated as: Total Inventory - Reserved Quantity.
How to view reserved quantity
To view both sellable and reserved quantities:
- Navigate to the Inventory section from the left menu
- Click on Update Inventory
- Select the SKU you want to update
- View the inventory details displayed on the page:
- Sellable Quantity
- Reserved Quantity
- Review both quantities before making any inventory adjustments
Both metrics now appear together on the Update Inventory (1×1) page, giving you complete visibility into your inventory allocation.
Understanding inventory calculations
When you update inventory, SmartHub automatically manages the relationship between total, sellable, and reserved quantities:
- Total Inventory = Sellable Quantity + Reserved Quantity
- Reserved Quantity automatically adjusts when orders are placed or fulfilled
- Sellable Quantity updates in real-time as reserved inventory changes
Example:
- Total Inventory: 100 units
- Reserved Quantity: 15 units (allocated to pending orders)
- Sellable Quantity: 85 units (available for new orders)
Tip: Understanding your reserved quantity helps you make informed decisions about inventory replenishment and avoid overselling.
Important points to remember
Note: Reserved Quantity visibility is currently available only for OMS nodes. This feature is not yet supported for WMS nodes.
Tip: Check both sellable and reserved quantities before updating inventory to ensure you maintain adequate stock for pending orders.
Experience
Reserved Quantity visibility is an internal inventory management feature and does not affect your customers' shopping or ordering experience. This enhancement helps you manage inventory more accurately, ensuring better order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
